is this "cute" republican scratching his ass like a dog on the American flag?

Question for the Republicans -

What makes you a Republican?

Does Republican/Democrat/Liberal/Conservative , has any actual relationship to reality?
:icongreenchikin:
*ignores the vulgarness*

The Republican party, also known as the Grand Old Party, is for the most part fairly conservative, but there are also liberal republicans... although very few. The main idea of conservatism is low government involvment; Less taxes, less government sponsered programs, more state rights. The Idea of liberals tend to be slanted more towards more government involvment; More government programs, and tend towards higher taxes.

I personally became a republican when my father was deployed to Iraq and I felt the need to research the reasoning behind the war. At first I was a little weary, but after doing research on the conditions in Iraq and their capabilities to be a threat to the United States I felt that the stop to terrorism was needed and that Iraq was indeed needing reform. Since that revolation, I have learned that a lot, while not all, of my veiws are shared by most in the republican party. Political parties are important because they allow a people with similar veiws to be heard on a national level, and are impotant in keeping fair elections and legislation.

I hope I've answered your question!

my questions were meant as to be rhetorical - too many Americans are victims of ignorance, research this war and Reagan's war on terror. The world community would agree that the US government is the greatest threat to peace in the world, and along with Israel and England, the US government is the largest backer of international terrorism. Find out the truth, I'm not lying.

The UN, although mostly funded by the US, is the organization that is in place to make sure that government's are accountable for their actions. Many nations that have been victims of US's terrorism, have tried to go to the UN/World Court for justice and protection. But since the US federal government (Democrats AND Republicans) have so much power in the UN, they declare a 'double veto' - effectively striking down the cries of the weak, and dismissing the facts from history.

Research these countries; Cuba, Nicaragua, Kosovo, Indonesian, Vietnam, and many other nations tha have become victims of US terrorism or US-backed international terrorism.

Of course there will be many sides to each, and often times you cannot find the true facts about what happen.

Chronological tampering is one of the main tactics used, besides completely erasing the facts from history.

I would first suggest reading 'Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance' by Noam Chomsky, MIT professor, and one of the most widely respected and read authors on Foreign Policy, and he's a man who doesn't fall into the trappings of Left/Right paradigms.

- Managing the Counterrevolution, by Stephen Streeter
- The National Security Strategy of the United States of America, by GWB & The White House
- Propagand and the Ethics of Persuasion, by Randal Marlin
- The Ambiguities of Power, by Mark Curtis

I would agree with you on your general definition of Republicanism - but that along with Democrats, the general accepted definitions are quite useless. It is all simply rhetoric, disinformation. They plan on you and I, getting it all wrong and confused.
:icongreenchikin:
I assume you're not actually trying to say that the United States government has gone into the countries your listing with the soul purpose of creating terror. The purposeful creation of terror for terrors sake being the definition of terrorism. I think that going along with this anarchist idea that the government is bad is pretty idiotic. If you genuinely think that there are no reasons for going to war in these countries, you obviously haven't done your research.

As someone who has worked with a lot of political groups, and has seen how political processes work, I know I am not misinformed (disinformed is not a word) or disillusioned. I have actually met politicians, worked on campaigns, and have researched current and past events. I usually try to refrain from reading politically charged books that sell you one side of the story. Those who try to stay out of political parties all together tend to lean liberal, which is interesting because not wanting government involvement is a conservative ideal. Also those who cannot connect with anyone else in the country in the form of a political party end up with absolutely no say in how the government is run. I suppose this is why there is only one Independent in the legislature. Even people like Confucius who believed that only kindness could bring peace to the world, admitted that there was a need for government. Not acknowledging this is unrealistic.

And for further notice, you shouldn't post vulgar rhetorical questions on peoples art, especially if you don't expect it to be answered.

You say that you refrain from reading politically charged books that sell you only one side of the story? well, I think probably most of the books you have read ARE one sided.

And if you haven't read the Noam Chomsky book that I've suggested that you read, then you have no basis to judge whether it is one sided or not. Also, Noam Chomsky has no intent to sell one side or another, he simply lays out the facts as they happened, using the information "both sides" have touted to be truth.

You are stuck in a fantasy world of honorable politicians, creepy liberals and 'just war.'
